Expanding to meet growing demand

Hendersonville, North Carolina US - 24/8/2010 - In 2009 Mona Lisa Food Products, Inc. decided to expand our facility to accommodate our rapidly growing sales, which can partly be contributed to the increased demand for our products in Europe. Our factory and warehouse in Hendersonville, North Carolina wasn’t large enough to efficiently manage the orders that were coming in from food shows in the U.S. and abroad.

The Owner and President Peter Thom and his wife Monica Thom, both pastry chef’s themselves, started Mona Lisa Food Products, Inc. at their kitchen table in Salinas, California, in 1987, based on a single creation—a chocolate cup shaped and striped like a tulip. It’s now been over twenty years since that start, and Mona Lisa’s business has been steadily expanding as we continue to add more items to our product lines such as the chocolate curls, spoons, and dessert cups that give pastry chefs’ more ways to make extraordinary dessert creations.

Mona Lisa relocated from California to business-friendly North Carolina and started distribution from three warehouses—in Hendersonville, San Francisco and the Netherlands. This year Mona Lisa has added a variety of new products and started focusing on a new distribution channel -supermarkets – with products packaged for the consumer market.

Today, the new warehouse and production facility is under construction. The addition will allow Mona Lisa to streamline operations. This much needed space will hold 1100 pallets and will double our production area. Upon completion, Mona Lisa will occupy 4000 m2, allowing us to be more competitive in the market.

Mona Lisa Food Products, Inc. of North Carolina manufactures an innovative variety of fine chocolate and pastry products which are distributed worldwide.
